West African Drumming Classes
Weekly class at Eagle Building, Sunderland SR1 2AX
Mondays 7-9 pm
Next 5-week block starts on 21st September
Sept to Dec, Jan to April and May to July
I teach traditional rhythm ensemble arrangements. Mainly from Guinea and Mali.
Everyone is welcome to attend, from complete beginners to advanced drummers. The music is made up of several rhythm parts, so there are always accessible parts to learn and enjoy, whilst contributing to the group sound.
I provide a large range of traditional djembes (hand drums) and bass drums (played with sticks). I have been training with West African teachers for 20 years, including 4 study trips – to Senegal, Gambia and twice to Guinea.
